There is a special time and place in everyone’s life for device free space - no phones, no laptops, no watches. Back in the day, when the kids were home, we had device free sit down dinners nightly and all day Sunday. But when my kids went off to college, my devices began showing up in my valuable device free territories of sabbath time and evening time. It was hard. With work, the kids far away, I always seem to be connected.

THE SPRINT PHASE :
When the kids were young there was no break. It was constant. The “break” you got as a full time mama amounted to about 2.5 hours and that I call a “SPRINT” - running from the grocery store to appointments and around the house picking up after the littles. It was a go-as-hard as you can in the shortest amount of time SPRINT session.

I was born with deformed hips - severe congenital dysplasia - at birth. Not only did I have multiple surgeries as a child, but also learned a secret love for doctors, nurses and the smell of a hospital after living there for months at a time during my young childhood.
