The Kitchen as the Primary Mover
The kitchen is the primary mover to your best health. John Berardi once said (and it stuck), “If it’s in the house, you will eat it.” There is much truth to this message and I think about this every time I step into my little kitchen.
If we can think about the kitchen as the primary mover, then here are a few benefits:
You control what goes IN and OUT. Making food at home is the best way to control what goes in and out of your body. It's your #1 asset to your vessel.
Place yourself in front of your fridge and MAKE IT YOUR OWN, create the space, the shelf, the area where you can nourish with your GRAB AND GO SNACKS. Here’s a few suggestions:
mason jars with fresh cut veggies (not only is the visual appealing but you will grab them if they are front and center)
pickled onions, pickled carrots, pickled beets
prepped protein: pick one- chicken, ground turkey, tofu
3. Keep food simple. Nourishing can be simple if you rinse and repeat. Get after your meal that serves all the macronutrients as a place to start.
4. Stock up! Always having something to GRAB and GO is key to making this the primary mover in your healthy day to day.
If you are home, try a “break the fast” meal of all the macronutrients: eggs, whole grain toast, spinach greens- as an easy place to start.
If you are on the go, try a box of greens with tuna salad or chicken salad; add some olives, seeds, nuts and GO!
REPEATING your simple meal with intention over and over and over creates a lifetime of habit.
Keep practicing and stoking this habit, not just for change to our beautiful vessels of health and well being, but also to our environment and Mother Earth.
Home health starts in the kitchen with YOU as the master.
Yours in Health,
Jenny
