The Gains of Mindfulness

There is more to gain with mindfulness than the pounds lost on the scale.

THAT WAS THEN ...

  • eat the same as everyone else in the family

  • worry about calories and burning it off tomorrow

  • snack late at night because carbs crave carbs (the more pasta on the plate, the more I wanted the late night snacks)

THIS IS NOW ...

  • eat dinner differently, sitting down mindfully

  • eat with intention around ratios: more protein (salmon), less pasta

  • consume ALL the macros- protein, fiber, carbs and fats in every meal

  • eat extra veggies

My boys' macros (24 and 23 years old) look different than mine. They need more carbohydrates. I need more protein.

I used to hide 8-10 pounds around my gut. I was healthy-ish. I used to play hard and then work hard to work off the play.

Now, I work just hard enough to play more and not have to work anything off.  

Now, I hide nothing. And have all the tools in my tool belt to be successful day to day, week to week, year to year with a memories over macros mindset. 

HOW COULD YOU DO THIS? 

It’s POSSIBLE AT ANY AGE to have optimal health. But as we age, we must shift our mindset around what is purposeful through food for our long term health.  

This is how I have gained muscle to protect my bones and have body confidence (ability to walk in the woods daily, jump up and down when I am excited and jump out of a plane, if I want to) 

I don't care about numbers on the scale. In fact, I only weigh myself for my annual physical.


I care about what I gained:

  • BODY = CONFIDENCE

  • MIND =  MINDFULNESS

  • MOVEMENT =  ENERGY

  • REST = DEEP SLEEP
