Reflection and Intention Go Hand in Hand

Reflection and Intention go hand in hand.  It’s hard to grow or gain perspective if you don’t give yourself one of these two.

I had the blessed opportunity to sneak away with my husband of 25 years on a little trip over the pond for reflection, intention and quality time.

How did 25 years go by this fast?  How are we still here?  Together? Surviving in a new way, trying to live day to day with intention and love and purpose.

We have had our share of ups and downs but we are getting better at being resilient, more thoughtful and more present with those we love.

This takes practice.  And ONLY when I have stepped away to reflect can I set a better intention.

You don’t need to cross a pond or even a state border to get perspective.  You can start small and close by.

Here’s 3 small steps to reflection and intention that you could start today:

  1. Walk it out.  Step outside and walk.  Make sure to look up, listen and breathe.

  2. Talk it out.  Write your words on paper, with a pen.  Let it flow for 5 minutes and re-read it to yourself.  Breathe in new life and perspective.

  3. Work it out.  What is “weighing” you down inside, eats away at you, until you work it out.

*Work it out in a 1 minute short burst of hard movement, where the heart rate gets up and you want to yell or scream at the end (like you do at a concert!)

*Work it out and just START that new THING!  It will be scary and hard but the exhilaration will be thrilling enough to release a kick of endorphins.

*Say sorry to someone in person and find closure so that you can move on.  Your parasympathetic nervous system will thank you.

Head to my stories in IG, where every day for the month of May, I will share a 1 minute plank challenge move (with modifications).

Set your intention.  Reflect on how you feel, post-sweat!
