How Intention Helped me Find Yoga

Yoga. It’s a practice, much like everything else in life. It’s something I have been fearful of for years.

All the negative thoughts seep in. “I’m not flexible.” “My core is weak.” “I can’t sit with my legs crossed, let alone stand on one leg for long.”

But I tried it. I went early. Tried to hide in the back. Pushed and forced my way through the moves. And then, I experienced something new in that first class that drew me back for more…. A teacher who said, ………

“May you be happy. May you be…”

Here are some practical steps to help you get started with intention setting:

1. **Set Clear Intentions**: Take some time to reflect on what truly matters to you in life. Identify the three things that are most important to you and make a conscious decision to prioritize them.

2. **Create a Daily Ritual**: Start your day with positive affirmations or reminders of your priorities. This could be through journaling, meditation, or simply taking a few moments to set your intentions for the day.

3. **Practice Gratitude**: Acknowledge and appreciate the good things in your life. Gratitude can help shift your mindset towards a more positive and fulfilling outlook.

4. **Visualize Your Goals**: Imagine yourself living the life you desire. Visualization can be a powerful tool to motivate yourself and stay focused on your aspirations.

5. **Self-Talk**: Monitor your inner dialogue and make an effort to speak to yourself in a kind and encouraging manner. Replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations.

6. **Physical Activity**: Engage in activities like walking or exercising outdoors to clear your mind and boost your mood. Physical movement can help release stress and increase your overall well-being.

7. **Seek Support**: Don't hesitate to talk to a trusted friend, mentor, or therapist about your goals and challenges. Sharing your thoughts and feelings can provide valuable insights and support.

Remember, personal growth is a journey, and it's okay to have setbacks along the way. Stay committed to your intentions, practice self-compassion, and celebrate your progress, no matter how small. By taking these steps consistently, you can move closer to living the life you truly deserve

Set your intention. Reflect on how you feel, and go choose your life today.

Yours in Health,

Jenny
