I Did Something Out of My Comfort Zone… So Can You

I did something WAY OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE last month!

NEVER, EVER in my ENTIRE LIFE would I have strutted down a long runway stage, dressed up in silk and leather, with all the glamorous jewels and accessories in HIGH HEELS!  

No way!  If you know me at all, you know that I have always been a sneakers, jeans, sweatshirt kind of gal. And if someone had asked me to do this in years prior, I would have had no trouble saying NO WAY!

What changed?

Reflecting inward on my health, my core, my spirit, my heart, and my joy. 

What I had seen in the mirror for most of my life until recently was damaged, hidden, protective, and deformed.  I carried myself well, most of my life and hid behind through my big smile.   I hid insecurities with laughter and jokes all while standing A LOT with my hands crossed, leaning to one side to hide my irregular body. 

When I raised my kids I worked, full time when it was needed, and I poured out to others.  But still I was masking my own pains and sorrows and ended up not dealing well when stress hit an all time high about 5 years ago.  

Here’s what I did to help me turn this around.  

First, I got a trainer, a health coach, and a community for myself.  For the first time, I was not training to teach others, but teaching myself how to feel better ABOUT me from the inside out.  

The program I found that gave me all of this was the FASTer Way to Fat Loss.  Stay with me here please… you may wonder WHY I would even mention this.  But it’s important. It’s important to know that I am a certified strength coach, yet doing something for myself and was SO SCARED TO START. 


I was a strength coach, but had the worst squat and deadlift ever (no range of motion in my deformed hips) so clicking on that link to do that first workout in the FASTer Way app was nerve wracking. I could not do it all!  I stopped after 10 minutes.  But something in the power of those pro trainers made me feel seen, heard, and accepted for what I could do!  And I kept going back for more.  

I started slow, 3 days a week, 20 minutes. 

I added 2 minutes the next week.  I threw myself a donut party when I reached my first 30 minute workout with success!  I am not kidding– my endorphins were sky high and I loved the feeling of someone telling me “YOU CAN DO THIS!”  I had been saying this same thing to others for decades, but somehow separated this from myself.  I can motivate others, but I thought that I couldn’t do it myself.

But, Oh yes I can!  And so can you! 

I fast-tracked into the FASTer WAY lifestyle pretty quick, once I understood how fantastic my perimenopausal body was feeling in response to carb cycling and intermittent fasting.  The better I felt, the more I craved it.  And the more I craved it, the more I learned.  I did not stop there.  

I was skeptical about this ACTUALLY being the best thing out there for everyone else (“maybe it’s just me, my age group it’s good for, this cannot possibly work for everyone else?” ) So, I maintained being a client and DUG INTO learning everything I could about nutrition.  

I got my Precision Nutrition, Level 1,2, Master Nutrition Coach certification, then mastered the Integrative and Functional Health certifications (it was covid and I had some time at home😂)..... You see where this is going?  


It was after this that I started my own Health and Wellness business, because I am functional health and strength coach. 

I got an LLC. WOW!  I pay quarterly taxes. I write monthly newsletters. I have a class schedule.  So, so many good things I have learned over these past few years.  

And all of this came from one place- someone else BELIEVING IN ME and SHOWING UP FOR ME!  That is what JRAPPFIT Health & Wellness means to me every day- I believe in you! I want to SHOW UP for you the same way I was showed up for.  


And because it all started for me in the FASTer WAY, of course, it’s no surprise, that after ALL those other certifications, I came full circle to where I started and said YES to being a certified coach of the program that first believed in me.  

This program is like no other.  It is science backed and does work for any adult age.  In fact, my first few clients were over 70 and had FANTASTIC results following this lifestyle.  As your coach, I will help you customize your macros, your fasting/feeding window and your approach to the workouts so that it all works for you.  


So, back to the runway walk.  When I had a friend reach out and ask if I would be a model for her clothing store.  I said YES of course!  And there I was at the country club with a long run way and STEPS to get up - in high heels!  

Here’s WHY this all matters?  

I ROCKED IT!  I was not graceful, I had no clue how to walk and strut.  So, I did it JRAPP style- I smiled, I did some bicep curls and a few lunges down the runway.  I did not care what anyone thought about me or my outfit, because I am now that confident in my skin, inside to out.  And because someone took a chance on me.  They believed in me and said YES YOU CAN DO THIS!  Thank you FASTer WAY for giving me my confidence to start and thank you Shauneen for outfitting me in clothes that made me feel comfortable and fabulous at the same time.  

When you get to that place where you can ROCK the THING that has SCARED THE HECK OUT OF YOU for all of your life, it’s GLORIOUS!  Your sparkle shines bright!  You find yourself again and others will see that joy radiate!  

Everyone deserves to have their SPARKLE be BRIGHT and SHINY and LONG LASTING! 

And that is WHY I am passionate about helping others unleash a positive mindset with their optimal health through nourishing whole foods and functional movement.
